cables
Nerds spend a goodly amount of time trying to keep their cables in something vaguely resembling order. Elastic bands don’t last. Velcro strips are great but they tend to be the wrong size and since they are pretty expensive ($2-$3 apiece) one never seems to have quite enough.
For things you are putting away, they don’t have to be pretty. That means that velcro plant ties are ideal:
They are super-cheap (I paid $3.29 for a 30-foot roll); you can tear off the length you need; and they seem to last pretty much indefinitely.
